D-Backs Protests Over AZ Immigration Flap?
www.footbasket.com http It's May right now. It's about 90 degrees in Arizona. If things weren't hot and heavy enough in the Valley of the Sun...oh just you wait! Anyone who has kept up with the news knows by now about the whole immigration snafu in the state of Arizona. 'Zona Governor Jan Brewer signed a bill (SB1070) that gave police officers the authority (supposedly) to pull over anyone that they feel could have suspicions of being an illegal immigrant. The new law will go into effect this July. I could go on and on about the politics of this new bill until I am as red in the face as the tank top that I am wearing. Some say it's needed because illegal immigration is becoming too much of a problem. Others say that the bill is basically morse code for racial profiling. I'll leave that up for others to decide, particularly YouTube's resident Beltway Boys (and Girls) on both sides. I uploaded this vid because this issue has seeped into the realm of sports. It's things like this that blur the line between politics and sports. When that line gets blurrier, so do the situations. I've always had a belief that whenever politics and sports mix together, the result is usually not too good. Google the Olympics...you'll see. Opponents of the new immigration law are turning to a familiar target...Arizona's tourism industry--particularly its conventions and sports facilities. They're banking on this after what happened in 1993 when the NFL rescinded the Super Bowl from Arizona after ...

I agree politics, religion, and sports, should keep a separation. Anything that motivate US Citizens to debate immigration laws, civil rights, the Constitution, etc., is good. Folks will find a reason and a venue to protest against or rally for anything
