LULAC president: Immigration law is like Nazi Germany
That new Arizona immigration law has stirred up a hornet's nest of controversy and protests. Now there is talk of bringing a similar law to Texas. LULAC president Rosa Rosales compares the law to Nazi Germany, saying it violates civil rights. Hispanic groups around San Antonio are challenging Arizona's new immigration law, which allows police to ask anyone for proof of legal US Residency. The Latino community gathered together Thursday at city hall to fight for their civil rights. LULAC announced they will take legal action to prevent Arizona's SB 1070 from going into effect. They also want a nationwide economic boycott of everything Arizona. Rosales wants conventions to pull out, sports teams to practice elsewhere and vacationers to give Arizona the boot. Rosales said, "If they can't respect the Latino community, they don't deserve our business." LULAC plans on filing a lawsuit in the coming days.
