MaximsNewsNetwork: 15 July 2010 - THE WORLD BANK: The Director of the World Bank's Global HIV/AIDS program, David Wilson, said that governments must continue to focus on combating the disease because it is still infecting millions globally today (15 July). He was speaking ahead of a major AIDS conference. Wilson, an internationally known AIDS expert, has published widely on AIDS, developed HIV prevention programs that have been cited as international best practices by the World Health Organization, and advised numerous national governments and international agencies. Dr. Wilson has worked around the world providing strategic AIDS advice to governments such as South Africa, Kenya, Nigeria, India, China, Vietnam, Lebanon and Papua New Guinea. He says that preventing the disease in those countries and others remains a major obstacle. Dr. Wilson will lead the Bank's delegation to the XVII International AIDS Conference which opens in Vienna Sunday (18 July).
